Many centuries ago, John Foxe wrote of an ordinary father, John Fetty who was forced to take an extraordinary stand to which he was sentenced to indescribable confinement and misery. Foxe writes, "Here... he had a dish of water set by him, with a stone put into it, to what purpose God knoweth, except it were to show that he should look for little other subsistence." May these pages be more than a dish with a stone. May you on your journey or even in your confinement... find these pages a refreshing spring full of living water leading to joy unspeakable and life eternal.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
(4)
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
by Robert Frost

Some advice to my students: Don't get sooo smart you think God might have fallen off His throne. He hasn't! One thing I've learned, having studied in the libraries of the world, we can all get too smart for Him, and being the Ultimate Gentleman that He is, He just might honor us with His silence at a time when we desparately need Him most.
Next time you stop by the local university or college library (for example, the Stacks at USC, or the Oviatt Library at CSUN), ask yourself: How many books will you have time to read in your entire life? Look down each row, walk every floor, consider the 10,000s other libraries you will never visit, and then seriously ask yourself that question... especially if you think you've arrived at some level of expertise. Some of the greatest people ever to walk the streets of history and influence our peoples throughout the world, never had the luxury of stepping into a library. This homepage is dedicated to all my students - past and present.
